Umrangso, Dima Hasao: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced a special initiative for the youth of Umrangso under the Mukhyamantri Atmanirbhar Asom Abhiyan, with a focus on providing employment opportunities to local candidates.

 

The Chief Minister stated that the objective is to ensure that local youth receive priority in employment opportunities in industries established in Umrangso. He also emphasised the need to ensure that employment opportunities in these industries benefit local residents rather than outsiders.

 

The announcement comes amid growing industrial development in the region, following the Bhumi Pujan ceremony of JK Lakshmi Cement Limited’s Integrated Cement Plant at 19 Kilo, Umrangso, on October 30, 2026.

 

The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Dima Hasao CEM Debolal Gorlosa, MLA Rupali Langthasa, Assam Minister Bimal Borah, and senior representatives of JK Lakshmi Cement Limited, among other dignitaries.

 

The proposed initiative is expected to strengthen local employment opportunities and support the economic development of Umrangso and the wider Dima Hasao district.
